What is Medi-Cal!
Medi-Cal is California’s Medicaid program and the in-state health and dental insurance program for patients who are eligible and meet specific criteria, for example, families, seniors, people with disabilities, children in foster care, pregnant women and those in a certain income tier who live in California. It provides comprehensive dental care throughout the state.
What is Denti-Cal!
Denti-Cal covers your routine checkups as well as basic dental services needed to keep your smile healthy. Without these treatments and preventative measures, you run a higher risk of tooth loss, dental emergencies and serious pain or infection.
Your Medi-Cal Dental Coverage (formerly Denti-Cal) keeps you ahead of issues like gum disease, cavities and gum disease (gingivitis and demineralization).
Please plan to schedule a checkup every six months for each member of your family who has benefits. If you don’t have insurance or Medi-Cal, at Whittier Emergency & Implant Dentist we welcome patients and offer flexible payment options to finance your treatments. We care!

The great news is that most treatment needs fall under Medi-Cal dental benefits. If there’s something elective—such as cosmetic treatment or adult orthodontics—we can discuss financing options for you separately from your included Medi-Cal benefits.

To sign up for Medi-Cal, you can call the Medi-Cal Dental Customer Service Line at (800) 322-6384, or visit Smile, California. General questions can also be directed to [email protected].
If you already receive dental benefits through your existing Medi-Cal plan, you are already enrolled, and there is no reason to re-apply to the program or apply for the older Denti-Cal program. Bring a copy of your Medi-Cal card with you to your appointment, and we will be able to process claims on your behalf.
